Trip to Pulpit Rock or Kjerag

The Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) is one of the most visited attractions in Norway, as well as one of its most photographed sites. To visit this popular rock formation 604 meters above the Lysefjord is a fantastic and unforgettable nature experience.

Jæren Hotell is 59.6 km (about a 90-minute drive) from the Pulpit Rock, making it the perfect journey’s end after a long day of hiking and a lot of unforgettable memories made.

Surfing Jæren

Norway’s best surf can be found along the beaches of Jæren. Here you can explore the North Sea for wind and waves. The spots range from easy and moderate beginner beaches, to the more challenging boulder rock points.

The summer season is most ideal for beginners, while the late autumn and winter have more thrilling conditions, which can be extremely fulfilling for those who brave the colder temperatures.

Kjerag in Forsand towers above other peaks in Lysefjord at 1084 meters. A hike for the summer season, Kjerag is more challenging as compared to the Pulpit Rock. One should expect about 5-7 hours for a round trip, depending on individual fitness level and pace. Though the ascents and descents can be strenuous, the experience is sure to be a memorable one, with sweeping mountain views, sights of Lysefjord, and the ultimate photo opportunity – if you dare – standing on the Kjeragbolten, a round boulder wedged solidly in the mountain’s crevice.
