Bakernes Paradis

The History of

Bakernes Paradis

Bakernes Paradis was a small farm in the old days, comprised of only a main house and a barn. In 1920, the site was taken over by a group of bakers from Stavanger. The place was then called the “Bakersvennenes feriested”.

The bakers built Reisehuset and Litlahuset, both of which still stand today. They also converted the old barn into what they called a “Bingo House”, which is now called Løa. The bakers came together with of all their respective families during the holidays, and this has been the summer paradise of countless “baker kids” all throughout 90 years. They led an easy life during the summers, from arranging dances in the garden to playing bingo in Løa. Neighbors and other local people frequently came to visit and celebrate with them.

We will happily tell you more about these stories when you come visit us.

Welcome to Bakernes Paradise at Lauvvik. We look forward to the pleasure of being your host!

Sincerely,

Your Friends at Bakernes Paradis

Norwegian tradition and culture

We have a dream

Kronen Hotels took over Bakernes Paradis on the 30th of December 2010. The place was then going through a major decline. The houses had to be completely renovated and the terrain had to be rehabilitated. This work began in the summer of 2011.

We named the place Bakernes Paradis (Bakers’ Paradise), based on the stories we have heard about the baker kids’ summer paradise.

Our dream is to recreate the long-standing stories of Bakernes Paradis through our actions and concepts, as well as to maintain the houses as if we still lived in the times they were built in.

We wish to convey Norwegian tradition and culture, tourism, and good experiences for all our guests – local people, companies, and tourists alike.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bakernes Paradis!

It’s really lovely here…

A Diverse Landscape

At Bakernes Paradis we wish to convey both coastal and farm culture. Here we can enjoy the sights of the beautiful Høgsfjorden and the mountain Uburen. Straight ahead, the entrance to the Lysefjord is also visible.

We are set on about 70 acres of property and have great hiking possibilities in the mountains opposite the fjord. We are happy to arrange guided tours for you and your group, perhaps with a nice packed lunch and a milk chocolate in your bag?

Lauvvik offers itself to you with its fantastic location just next to the fjord. We have everything you need for a wonderful, magical day or night. Good food, dancing, garden games, entertainment, and relaxing around the fire.

Food from the chef’s heart!

We place great emphasis on the use of local products in our menus, where we focus on fish and meat from the grill. Our fish soup has become our very popular specialty, which we serve at the café in Heimahuset. We also make delicious desserts and serve our own freshly baked bread.

Discovery Route

Discovery Route is a historical round trip along rv.13 along Fjord Norway from Stavanger to Bergen. This historic route has existed since the 1880s, when tourists traveled by horse and cart to experience the beautiful nature with majestic mountains, adventurous fjords, glaciers, crystal clear rivers and cascading waterfalls.

Along the Discovery Route you can stay in historic hotels and experience popular tourist attractions such as the Pulpit Rock and Trolltunga. Book your Norwegian holiday through Up Norway, which has extensive experience in tailoring completely unique trips and experiences in Norway that are adapted to your wishes and needs.

Norway’s most sustainable journey
In the summer of 2020, Ina Vikøren, Sustainability Manager for Telia traveled with Up Norway and a film team on the historic journey along the Discovery Route between Bergen and Stavanger to meet local tourism providers like us at Kronen Gaard Hotell and our country house Bakernes Paradis. The goal of the trip was to put together and explore Norway’s most sustainable travel experience.
